Laurel Brucato, Ph.D., a graduate of the University of Illinois and Kent State University, is a clinical psychologist and Clinical Director for Abascal, Brucato & Assoicates, the private practice at MindWorks, Int., Inc., the Stress Management Center she co-founded in 1988. Dr. Brucato views herself as an eclectic positive psychologist who endeavors to help individuals develop and enhance their strengths to work toward optimal functioning, and to overcome their particular problems in living. In her clinical practice Dr. Brucato specializes in the treatment of anxiety and phobic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, depression, sexual dysfunctions, marital problems. She has also taught at Miami Dade College as an adjunct professor, as well as conducted numerous training workshops on stress mastery and assertiveness.
Juan R. Abascal, Ph.D., a graduate of Rutgers, the State University, and Kent State University, is a clinical psychologist in private practice at Abascal, Brucato & Assoicates along with being a professor of psychology at Miami Dade College. In conjunction with two of the other authors, he co-founded MindWorks, Int., Inc. a stress management center and comprehensive private practice of clinical psychology. Dr. Abascal divides his time between teaching and his clinical practice. In his clinical practice, Dr. Abascal specializes in helping individuals suffering from anxiety disorders, grief and depression, along with couples experiencing marital distress. He is committed to the principle that any individual willing to follow a step-by-step process can learn to function optimally and achieve joy in their lives. In his role as a professor, he has been awarded an Endowed Teaching Chair and received the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Abascal has also been honored with the Service Learning Professor of the Year Award. As a graduate of the Salzburg International Education Institute, he has been involved in the Global Education Initiative as well as the Earth Ethics Institute. He has also served the college as a department chairperson, Associate Dean, Academic Dean, and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. A clinical psychologist by training, Dr. Abascal has conducted numerous personal effectiveness and stress mastery seminars and workshops with people from all walks of life, from the lay person to the professional health care provider.
Dominic Brucato, Ph.D., a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Kent State University, is a clinical psychologist in private practice at Abascal, Brucato & Assoicates and psychology professor at Miami Dade College. Along with his wife, Dr. Laurel Brucato, and Dr. Abascal, he co-founded MindWorks, Int., Inc., the stress management center and Abascal, Brucato, & Assoicates, the psychology practice. Dr. Brucato divides his time between teaching and his clinical practice. In his clinical practice Dr. Brucato specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD and he is a master hypnotherapist and practitioner of NLP. In his role as a professor he has been the recipient of an Endowed Teaching Chair and the Service Learning Professor of the Year Award. He is also a Core Council Member of the Earth Ethics Institute and is involved with the Global Education Initiative. He specializes in teaching courses aimed at helping students reach optimal functioning in their academic and personal lives. A dynamic speaker, Dr. Brucato has conducted numerous stress mastery and effectiveness workshops dedicated to helping people from all walks of life achieve their full potential.
